JABE Educational Software covers many physics related concepts. Latest update: (March 6 '08)
The software has been primarly designed for ease of use and designed specifically to illustrate key concepts used in schools curriculum. Once the software is licensed to a school, the software can be taken home by the students at that school. Since files are stand alone this is easily done. The software evolved out of necessity. I wanted some software for my class and since the software available didn't do exactly what I needed them to do, I started writing software to fill the void. The software evolved to fill numerous roles. As a demontstration aid, to help illustrate hard to visualize concepts, as a way to collect data quickly and easily when used in a lab based situation, as well as an easy way to create graphics for tests and quizzes. The resulting software has been extensively used in the classroom, with the functionality and content in the software constantly been added. So the software is an ideal resource for teacher and school use. It has been created by a teacher, for teachers. Be sure to try the software.. Cool tidbit to try: I have used my software with an interactive whiteboard and it works great. I have since come across this on YouTube. It is basically the cheap man's interactive whiteboard using the Wii Remote. A summary of the "Wii Board" is here. IF you get it working, it is really neat. The software developed for it is in its infancy. The software involved is obviously not mine and it is a "use at your own risk". I had it working for a while until the drivers on the computer were recently upgraded. (My fault..I tried to get the Wii VR room to work...arghhh) My software worked really well with "Wii Board". It obviously isn't as functional as a commercial Interactive Whiteboard, but for under a $100 investment it works great. The biggest weakness for the "Wii Board" is right clicking really doesn't work. But since right clicking isn't used often in my programs and there is very little keyboard entry, I had great success. If you get the "Wii Board" to work, you should combine the use of my free Screen Capture program. This allows you to easily capture screen shots created during your lesson to put into a word processing document for later analysis. Once I get it working again I'll post a video on YouTube to show how I use it. Having said this, I'm going to be adding an option in all my programs to make some of the "dots" on the screen that you click and drag bigger to make it easier to use while using this type of interactive projection system. The Wii Board resolution isn't as high as the commercial products so it needs the larger target. Have fun with it... |
